Poems for the Seals

„Poems for the Seals“ is a project dedicated to the seals in Iceland. I developed this project during my artist residency at the SÍM Residency Korpúlfsstaðir, Reykjavik in March and April 2024, where I explored the relationship between nature and humans and what influence the immediate environment has on people.

Therefore I visited the seals, near Korpúlfsstaðir on a daily basis. A fabric soaked in seawater shows temporary traces marked by volcanic rocks and visualises transience and ephemeral poems. In addition, I drew several poems for the seals with watercolor and seawater. The presentation in public space enabled spontaneous interactions with different visitors.
